    We’re going to a Smorgasbord!

We’ve been invited to a real Norwegian Smorgasbord at the old Rock Church. I’m pumped this is a cool place and some nice people. I can’t bring myself to go to the lutefisk get together in Cranfills Gap, Click image for larger version

There will be enough variety that you can avoid the lutefisk.

This is an annual event apparently. The churches here have fundraisers based on their heritage. Our church has a big German sausage supper next month. The older men make and smoke the sausage themselves. My SIL has helped them the past 2 years so he’ll be able to carry on the tradition when the time comes. One of the prizes they sell tickets for is a basket of different German beers.

Hope there is Risengrynsgrøt for you to try, or as our kids use to say as they asked for more, “Grease and green grits.” It is a Christmas rice pudding.

I go to a Lutefisk feed every year at the Lutheran church I grew up in. (Mount Olivet) I used to go with my mom (100% Norwegian) and brothers when I was a kid....my Dad always had "something going on".......IDK.

I still go every year with my buddies Dad (Severin) and some of our friends. I go for the church ladies, meatballs, butter and mashed potatoes. Sever goes for the lutefisk. I eat some of it, but not nearly as much as the older folks. That being said, it is an incredible event. Every year, they bring in over 4,000 people to the event. It really is amazing. And the sweater game is on point!

I believe you are down the road from me. I mean it's a long road, but...

I do enjoy some good lefse. Use it like a tortilla shell or eat it with butter, cinnamon and sugar.

I am lucky that still my wife, our daughter, and our oldest granddaughter are all great lefse makers.

Spinaker “The sweater game is on point”. Love this!!!

Oak Smoke just try one bite. Then you can say you’ve had it and never have to do it again. And you are respecting your hosts. I did the same thing with chicken feet once. 🤣

            Once.

I'm happy for you, but I really lost all desire for a smorgasbord after watching Charlotte's Web.

Nice, smorgasbord is not to be missed!! I’m not a big fan of lutefisk, mainly because it tastes very little (if anything) without the sauce. But to each his own. There’s a ton of other stuff to feast on. Meatballs, risgrynsgröt, you name it! Make sure to take photos.
