Where to shove a peppermint stick--In a pickle, of course.
15-20 years ago, I heard of pickles and peppermint sticks from a friend out of Chicago.
I thought it was a local thing from his neighborhood there. It turns out it is a real thing.

There are so many good recipes for spam. I use low sodium spam mostly during camping trips.
It is my understanding Spam is a big thing in Hawaii.
Scotch: Current favorite- The Arran (anything by them), Glenmorangie 12yr Lasanta, sherry cask finished. The Balvenie Double Wood, also like Oban 18yr, and The Glenlivet Nadurra (Oloroso sherry cask finished) among others. Neat please.

ItsAllGoneToTheDogs Never done chocolate cake but sometimes when I get home from work in the mornings which are late night to me, and beer sounds good, and so do scrambled eggs & toast (I'm an eggs & toast lover any time of day) I've drank a beer with my eggs & toast and it hits pretty good.
ItsAllGoneToTheDogs I would think chocolate cake and a good Porter would mix well. Or maybe a properly hopped IPA. Not one of these over dry hopped obminations that still seem to be popular these days, but a real IPA that is made to the proper style guidelines. I haven't had a beer in the last couple of decades, so I can't help with any specific brands.
I would agree. I personally think the Porter is the standard bearer for the local craft breweries. It’s how I judge them overall. The subtle balance of flavors in a well crafted Porter makes me close my eyes. I also disagree with the idea that ‘bitter is better’. 👍
That is a thing too.
To make a peppermint stick in a lemon:
Wash and dry 3 large lemons.
Cut lemons in half width-wise.
Cut a small cross in the center of the cut section to insert the peppermint stick.
Insert the peppermint stick in the center of each lemon half.
In Baltimore, Maryland, lemon sticks (also referred to as lemon peppermint sticks) are a treat where a peppermint candy stick is stuck in a lemon, providing a sweet and sour taste sensation.
