Now the question is, when will you invent a microwave that can actually sear steak?!?!?

Cooking bacon when I’m just doing a couple of pieces for a BLT, reheating Chinese food and popcorn.

Heating water when I’m feeling too lazy to haul out the kettle. Reheating non-meat leftovers.

Like a few others, I wouldn’t miss it if it were gone (SWMBO just told me that I can’t live without it … literally 😳).

Reheat leftovers, rewarm coffee, soften butter, occasional semi-scrambled egg, corn on the cob, step one of a baked potato, the Mrs. will make bacon, and our go to favorite microwave popcorn! Reheat leftovers. And did I say reheat leftovers?

A great trick I learned was to rescue a hardened block of brown sugar. You know, when it gets like a brick you can throw through a window. Half a min or so in a bowl with some damp paper towels and you can break it up and use it again.

A funny story my uncle told me was when his friend tried to cook a lobster in one. Said he only heard it clamoring in the microwave for a few minutes...

Can you clarify. You don't put canned food in a microwave. You remove from the can, right?

Yes. Heat without the can. I'm stupid, not crazy 😝

I haven't tried but a fraction of the features our new microwave has. so far I use it like we did with our old school one. Seems it has as many convection oven features as microwave features. I'm curious what Health Fry is. I'm assuming similar to air fry?

My new microwave isn't fancy, but it does a really good job of defrosting ground meat. Doesn't cook the meat.

              • Defrosting frozen stuff
              • Reheating leftovers
              • Softening/melting butter
              • Reheating my coffee cup if it got cold
              • Etc...
I don't often make microwave popcorn as I hate it. Too many additives, and too likely to taste burnt. I make my popcorn in a Whirlypop brand pot on the stovetop, with a tablespoon or two of olive oil and a 1/2 cup of kernels, and about 1/3 stick of melted butter from the microwave... plus salt of course!

Veggies for the puppa mostly, twice a day. Carrots, sweet taty, brussels sprouts, string beans, scrambled egg. Just enough so they are not coarse. He only gets abt half the kibble we used to feed him. He loves chunks of apple n blueberries.

I am doing same, although I usually cook it up in the IP. My corgi, Vivy, seems to be absolutely in love with green beans. The mean vet lady said she has "porked on six pounds" and needs to lose it. Half kibble, half green beans is doing the trick. I might ought to do same

Mainly reheating, don't do a lot of TV dinners or anything like that these days. I know people who solely cook with the things and turn out good food, but its just not.my jam.

Main use of the microwave for me is as a clock. Once in a while, if I’m in a hurry, I’ll throw some leftovers in. Or if I forgot to melt something for a recipe and can’t wait.
