Hooch Wagon Brewfest
Eckley is actually Eckley Miner’s Village, a preserved coal patch town here in NEPA, administered by The Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission. It is a fascinating window into a past way of life, and definitely worth a look if you’re in the area and into American and social/economic history.
This is the first year for the Hooch Wagon, and based on the turnout, it might be the last. Tickets were limited to 400; we bought ours an hour before heading out, and I don’t think we saw 100 people between 4:15 and 6:30.
The rain didn’t help, driving everyone under the tents:

I was the designated driver, so I didn’t pay much attention to the brews, wines, and meads, other than to ask about processes. But… in a world of pizza trucks, taco trucks, funnel cakes, etc, let’s give it up for…
Fraulein German Meats and Sweets!

We got a curry wurst plate…

And a 3 sausage platter of bratwurst, krainerwurst, and weisswurst:

With assorted mustards:

Damn. Damn, damn, damn, that was good.
