Coffee? I want that first one for spices!
Also, while I spent an uncomfortable and embarrassing and foolish amount of money on Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee in college, I have never once wanted or needed to measure the weight of an espresso shot lol.

Large Big Green Egg, Weber Performer Deluxe, Weber Smokey Joe Silver, Fireboard Drive, 3 DigiQs, lots of Thermapens, and too much other stuff to mention.
I used to buy from Sweet Maria’s, but now it’s all just coffee. Like Michael_in_TX, I also spent quite a bit on Kona peaberry and the like.
I did learn a lot, but after a while I also learned that I didn’t care enough about it to justify the expense. So now I buy a big bag of ground store brand and brew one 20oz cup in the morning, and I’m done for the day.

I get my beans for free from my coffee shop job and grind them at home. I use an Espro French press with a paper filler added. This cup is probably a little overkill since I just scoop my coffee grounds. Maybe I would get more consistent results if I go to weighing like I do with my v60 pour over that I use occasionally.

Bullet by Bull Grills gasser
Anova WiFi sous vide machine
Thermoworks Thermapen and Chef Alarm
Interesting. Doesn’t surprise me someone would come up with this.
I do weigh beans pre-grind and then again post-grind to ensure I have what I need. Then I also time and weigh the espresso output. To me, I enjoy the process in the morning and find it rewarding to make a cappuccino I feel I could serve in a coffee shop.
and….I have been eyeing some new espresso machines lately. My Breville Bambino Plus is on the fritz but for now, as long as I run the clean and descale more often then needed, it somehow keeps it going.
Thanks for sharing the link to this scale! Pretty cool technology!

I know it's wrong, but I just grind my beans, pre wet the unbleached paper coffee filter, use filtered water, put in 5 scoops or so into my Oxo SCA approved drip coffee maker and press the start button. I have never weighted anything, even when using the French press. Maybe if I did, it would be better. Hot coffee yes, warm or cold no. To me, coffee smells better than it taste.

Yeah about 6 months ago I did a deep dive into espresso makers as mine died. I could not believe the level of obsession out there. I decided I didn’t want to be that much of a coffee nerd and so bought the same rig I had. I did add a grinder and that elevated my game big time but that was enough for me. Maybe in another 20 years when this rig dies I’ll nerd out.

I'm a coffee geek. One 14 oz cup per day. I don't weigh the beans. My favorites are Mayorga Cubano and Muy Macho beans, but Costco French Roast will do in a pinch. I grind 'em and use a 3-cup Chemex pour-over. I use a collapsible kettle, filter holder & small hand grinder when we travel. Sometimes when the mood hits, I'll use the French press. For espresso, I use a Bialetti moka pot. I have a late 70's La Pavoni Europiccola coffee machine, but it's in the shed waiting to get new seals.

Over time I've moved from buying whole beans and grinding them to buying ground Dunkin from BJs and putting it through the Keurig. Its kinda like beer, after the first cup it doesn't really matter any more. I'll use other makers depending on where and when, but its all pretty much the same to me.
Note, I pretty much drink coffee all day.
