I hate when I forget to look at the weather forecast....

So Thursday and Friday were clear and beautiful days down here in southeast Texas. I made the menu for the week and went to the store and got nearly everything I needed for a week of grilling outside!

Only one problem.....I neglected to look at the forecast. It's going to be raining all week. Oops. Sigh. And some of this stuff -- grilled chicken sandwiches --- I do not want to do in the oven.

I need to break down and get one of those portables covers so I can grill/smoke in the rain.

(Please tell me I am not the only one who does this!)

If I'm planning a cook outside I do check the forecast, especially in winter. Cold, snow and standing over a cooker ain't my idea of enjoyment.

I have full canopies but they can be a pain to setup alone. I went and bought a patio umbrella large enough to cover me and my grill and that has worked out well for unexpected rains.

Timely post for me. Jogged my memory for my planned cook for tomorrow. We should be running around 18 Fahrenheit for my chuck roast cook. Will be using my Weber Kettle for the cook, already slathering in anticipation.

This is Texas........................any weather forecast more than half an hour ahead it only a guess.

              Pretty much....including our four-seasons-in-one-day days.

I've been a total weather and climate nrrrrrrrrrrrrd for decades so there is never a day I don't look at the weather maps and forecasts, usually more than once... can't imagine not doing so!

You know what, you're right....you'd think as an astronomer I'd pay more attention to this stuff lol.

An astronomer that doesn’t check the weather several times per day? Really?

              I know...weird, isn't it.

Rain? If I can get the coals lit, I go for it. I run the kettle in rain all the time. Not downpours, but “regular” rain showers.

Hasn’t rained here since August, so no, I don’t have to plan much. News flash, we might get a sprinkle tomorrow!

Looks like I am getting lucky. The rain chances have significantly diminished for Monday and Tuesday, so the chicken thighs will be in the marinade tonight!

Do you not have a patio umbrella?

I've lived in Wyoming most of my life. The first of many of my "rules of life is: "If you don't like the weather, wait a few minutes."

How many of us could have a job like a weather forecaster where if we were right thirty percent of the time, we'd be doing a good job??
