I read the AP story and my mouth was watering to the point of almost drooling on my keyboard. I've been adding 10% bacon to ALL my game meat burger for about 40 years now. Never thought to use it in ground beef. Definitely gonna give it a try.

I love how Meathead says it is okay to season the ground meat. 98% of YouTubers will insist that you don't do this and....they are technically not wrong as all the rubs they are using contain copious amounts of salt.

If you use a rub without salt, you won't have the drying out problem.

When I do smash burgers, I follow his Diner Burger Recipe, and mix in ground pepper, granulated onion and garlic. It adds a great flavor, and all I gotta carry out to the griddle is the salt shaker...
