I was reading interviews of former slaves and came across this pertinent comment from one Louis Fowler (84 years of age at the time) who was born a slave in Macon County Georgia: "De meat am cured with de hick'ry wood smoke and if you could get jus' one taste that ham and bacon you'd never eat none of this nowadays meat. It sho' have a dif'rent taste."
I agree with the late Mr. Fowler. Were he still with us today he would surely have been a charter member of Amazing Ribs.
