Something easy ... a couple of Angus NY strip steaks (SVQ), a starch (likely baked potatoes), something green (broccoli?), and rhubarb crunch for dessert. Easy, peasy (I'll do the steaks and potatoes and SWMBO will take care of the rest).
Cutting high grasses on the property in the continuing fire prevention efforts. Loading up for a week camping trip at the headwaters of the Rio Grande River.
Completely forgot about it. Kids are out of the house, so no need to change any "plans". Probably will be working on an Asian inspired grain bowl I had this week in Denton, TX of all places...
For special occasions (like holidays and payday) my father used to always grill steaks. Hard to believe he’s been gone for 2 years. I’ll remember the old man and try to make it like he did!

This year it happens to fall on one of my son’s birthday. He called the other day and suggested that he buy me dinner somewhere…and I could buy his for his birthday. LOL
Unfortunately I haven’t made it back home yet…so that’s going to have to wait. But it’s all going to work out. One of my brothers is having a party this weekend to celebrate my parents anniversary, unbeknownst to them…they just think he’s having a few people over for a pool party. Anyway, he’ll be there…as will my father…and I don’t have to do much of anything. So, like I said, it all works out. The only downside is that my other son is probably working next weekend.
Going to my parents. Mom is fixing fried chicken at my Dad's request...
He wants to butcher the chicken the way he likes it, he hates the way the necks and backs are handled and he wants them done his way. The backs are his favorite part of the chicken...So we are having fried chicken so he can butcher the chicken...
The kids are grown and out of state, and the wife is in Scotland for two weeks, so yesterday my answer would have been "not much". Today my brother has decided he’s doing "dinner ala Bob Chinn’s" (a famous Chicago seafood restaurant), so we’re having ribeyes, crab cakes, Shoyu shrimp, and key lime pie.
My first time at Torchy's Tacos. No pics. As they say, Damn Good Tacos and queso. Prices were 5 to 6 dollars for a very filling taco. I'll go back. I do want to try Velvet Tacos next.
Large Big Green Egg, Weber Performer Deluxe, Weber Smokey Joe Silver, Fireboard Drive, 3 DigiQs, lots of Thermapens, and too much other stuff to mention.
We saw Hauser on Friday (rock music led by a world-class cello player) and Raiders of the Lost Ark is at the local theater today. And brisket on Wednesday.
Looks like we will go out for dinner. The kids are strung all over the place. The daughter is on her way home from College Station, TX. She was at the George Strait concert last night. They supposedly broke the outdoor concert attendance record set by the Grateful Dead’s concert in New Jersey 1977. Right now I’m watering in the new sod with my new, just invented, greatest ever water sprinkler. I call it the instant water sprinkler. All you have to do is add water.

I picked up some pizza dough at Publix earlier. So I’ll make a pizza with pepperoni and black olives in the 12” CI skillet. It won’t be a Richard Chrz creation, but it’ll be tasty.
