    Reaching Back in Time - Show Us Your Old Cooks

    Okay so this is a sort of subset of SUWYC and since I can't create a new topic there I'll do it here. I'm a pack rat and keep all of the photos of my cooks both old and new. The year was 2018 and we were going to have a fairly large party and I remember we had a bumper crop of pomegranates that year. I decided to do Pomegranate and Orange Glazed Quail with a mess of fixins'. Camera was my iPhone, still amazes me how a phone can take such great pictures.

    Anyhow enjoy and please humor me by reaching back in time and posting some cooks from the beginning of your journey in the Pitmasters Club

Schichten Braten. It roughly translates to layered meat. It was posted by a trial member. His only post. I followed his lead, did the Google thing, and gave it a whirl. It’s the cook I am most proud of. It was awesome. Give it a try.

    When I was 7 years old I cooked a full breakfast for all my friends during a sleep over. They and their parents were most impressed. Sorry I have no pictures. Is that going back far enough?

        OK, I know I have a bent brain, so when I saw the subject of this thread, I had a whole different thought as to what it might be - selfies. Add 56 years to this version to get this "old cook":

          Thanks guys. Troutman MREs were after my time. We got leftover C-Rats from the Korean Way, at least that's what they looked and tasted like. Fortunately, hot meals, either base camp or in the field, were pretty much the norm where I was. We just raided the C-Rats for cigs, peaches/canned fruit ( a LOT of preservatives), beanie-weenies and a few other cherished items. Ham and lima beans last on the list 😁
