The frozen Indian cuisine at Trader Joe's is surprisingly edible. Actually, it is pretty good.

Eggs have a lot of flexibility - fried, scrambled, poached. Ramen (sp?) noodles. Canned soups.
Jimmy Deans makes mini sausage biscuits that are very good, 1minute in the MW.

Problem is that processed food is not good for her.
She has to learn to cook everything for herself and get fresh veggies/fruits into her meals.
That said, if she learns how to de-bone chicken, she can save a lot of money.
Usually the more food is processed, the more it costs.
      Best of Luck to her!

Thank you. Already prepared meals (frozen I suppose) is what she's looking to buy for when she hasn't time for doing so herself.

Walmart has pulled pork selections in the meat aisle as well as Mexican selections such as beef birria. Toss in a taco or two and and avocado (or storebought guacamole) and she's got a pretty decent inexpensive meal.

Thank you. I assume they will keep in the fridge for a day or two.

I encouraged my daughter when she was that age to cook wholesome meals in her tiny first-apartment kitchen. Thing is, she didn't want to cook; she just wanted to eat something cheap and fast and then go out with her friends.

Getting prepared foods in the freezer or meat counter section was about all the effort that my daughter wanted to expend on meal-making as a "bachelor". She learned to make hella nachos with pulled pork or ground beef, though.

The freezer section will be her friend. Even frozen Southern fried chicken isn't all that bad. When you're a kid.

I have a son who is an expert at living on Walmart. They’ve employed him for about 15 years now. Walmart frozen pizza isn’t bad. As fzxdoc recommended the freezer section has a multitude of options. There’s are several hot meal options at the deli counter. Cold cuts and a loaf of bread will get her through a pinch. I would get on line regularly to see what is on sale in the grocery section. There’s also that bargain bin in most meat departments where they drastically mark down things that are near their freeze or sell by dates. I’ve utilized those as an adult. As a poor college student I knew where every all you can eat for one price pizza deal was near me and the all you can eat buffets were. Friends on a tight budget are a great resource also. They may know of places and options you don’t.

Thank you. Will pass on the info and tell her to check out for the bargain bin.

A serious question and absolutely no snark intended: It seems that at least three people have posted about knowing someone who won't eat meat "on the bone". Is there any explanation/phobia for this? I mean, there is no meat that didn't get raised without bones. Less'n you're talkin' 'bout lab meat. OK, crustaceans/bivalves excepted. Cockroaches too... Is a porterhouse OK if it's sliced off the bone after cooking? Boneless chicken thighs? McNuggets? Again, no snark intended. I am just baffled.

No rhyme or reason, aside from being squeamish I think. Bone in chicken is the best in my book - especially fried chicken, haha…

In my daughter's case she just doesn't like eating anything off the bone. 🤷

Ramen, teriyaki and frzn mixed veggies. InstaPot is a must. One layer of fresh eggs on the trivet it should come with, 3/4 cup of water. Hardboiled eggs in 20 min start to finish. Chill in ice water bath n eggs literally fall out of the shells. Will keep in fridge week minimum. Elbow macaroni is way cheap. 10 minute boil n strain, add milk, butter, velveeta, canned chicken, can o sweet peas.
Sounds weird but extremely tasty and will have leftovers. Load InstaPot in AM ready when you get home as a slow cooker.
