The free side, as we call it, has over 2000 recipes. What if for a future Smackdown, the requirement was to pick one of the available recipes?
I haven't fully through through the pros and cons to requiring that one must follow the recipe exactly or not, but I often forget the free side is there. This would be a way to encourage us to search around in there. I'm sure we'd find some hidden gems.
It would be cool to follow the recipe exactly. May not be be able to have judging done, but the pitmaster could actually rate their results from 1 to 10. The best result recipes could be listed for others to try. I'd be up for this event however it works out.

So it’s settled. Everyone is going to do a whole hog, including sides, following the instructions found on the free site. To make it more interesting I suggest we do it in January. 🙂. — Of course I kid. Sounds like a neatnidea.

Jerod Broussard Funny! 😂…… Good idea for maybe January? November is our Chili Cookoff and December is Secret Santa. September is soon, seafood smack down. October is the world famous 🙄Cajun Country MeatUp. 😁
Great idea. The latest Smoke Signals has all these really great sandwich recipes that I have never seen. I couldn't even find them because there were at the very bottom of a long list of really great other recipes, which explains why I never see them. I don't have the attention span to scroll that far down!

Hey! So I was reading the newsletter and clicked on one of the recipes on the free side. I started reading and this window popped up and just says “loading”. It doesn’t go away. I can’t click anywhere to close it.
