Congrats winners!
This was fun. I too made tacos (well, fajitas to be precise) but I didn't post anything since my pics didn't come out as expected for the finished product (I forgot all the toppings, doh!), but I was able to take part in another fun community cook.
Next one desserts? WayneT Panhead John

What’s wrong with seafood AND your favorite dessert? 👍
-
Panhead John probably best to keep them separate to not overwhelm simpletons like myself. When you need another smackdown idea, I vote desserts with the stipulation that at least 1 ingredient must be physically grilled or smoked (not just "smoked salt", for instance). Seafood will be a fun one to see as well, so stick with that since it's more popular of an idea for the next one. Desserts might be a better winter time one since most of it could be done indoors.

Hope everybody doesn’t mind, but I will be trying/ copying a lot of your recipes and techniques. I grew up on Old El Paso taco kits, and though I gave them up a long time ago, that is what I tried to copy/ improve on for many years. Glad to know better now!
barelfly Thanks for pushing the envelope! Troutman Thanks for your taco series on this sight and for the inspiration! Thanks and congratulations to all the winners and to all who entered because sharing is the best way to enjoy food! Glad we all are here at the same table.
WayneT and all the judges, Sorry for any headaches, and thank you for hosting such a fun and educational event!

I of course love smoked meats of all kinds, but also like quick cooks like chicken portions, pork tenderloins, steak and fish. Really into cooking of all kinds.
My outdoor kitchen has a Lone Star Grillz Adjustable and it is wonderful. There also is a Pit Boss 5 Burner Ultimate Griddle and a Pit Boss Copperhead pellet grill.
There is an outdoor fire pit that has grilling capability and limited Santa Maria-style grill raising and lowering.
FireBoard 2 Pro
Anova Precision Cooker
First, I'd like to thank the Nobel Committee, wait wrong script...
Many thanks to the noble judges. Sorting through all the incredible entries can't have been easy. I can only presume that much alcohol was consumed in that process, since that's the only way to account for where my entry wound up. A big thank you goes to Meathead for the sponsorship and allowing us to have so much fun on the site. But the most kudos have to go to WayneT for all the work he put in organizing and then judging, too. Special recognition has to go to barelfly as well, as it somehow seems a miscarriage of justice for the local taco authority turned taco cheerleader to not wind up on top. Especially since I stated clearly that much of my cook was a direct ripoff of one of his.
What a fun time it was and all the interaction was hugely entertaining.

Congrats to all of the taco mavens here who participated in the contest. It was a fun topic to follow along with.
And special congrats to the winners. I imagine it was tough to chose the best of all of the excellent entries on that topic.
I venture to guess that most people here had tacos on the brain for the past couple of weeks, with so many tempting photos and descriptions. I know I did.
Thanks for setting this up, WayneT . You and your illustrious panel of judges did a fine job.
