Paprika 3 app for saving favorite recipes

Anyone else use the Paprika 3 app for saving recipes? I love how easy it is to share a web page recipe to the app and it puts everything into proper category. Ingredients and the instructions. I think there is a free version but I bought the upgraded version and love the options to also print the recipes out into the apps version. Tell me your thoughts if you use it or recently tried it.

Been using it for years. Pretty much indispensable. Been trying to cull a few though๐Ÿ™„

There are a LOT of folks around here that are Paprika users. Its even possible (thanks to a fairly recent modification to the Pit) to upload a Paprika format file as though it's a photo ... like this:

I tried clicking on your link and it downloaded the file. However, it then asked me to select an app to actually open the file. I don't have a clue. Selecting Acrobat Adobe doesn't work. Any suggestions?

dubob - It's a Paprika file ... for importing into the Paprika app ... and that's all it's for. If you have Paprika then I can share a recipe with you and instead of you having to manually enter it into the app, you can simply import it.

Usually, if I post a recipe in the pit, I'll also include the associated Paprika file as an attachment so that anyone who is already using their own copy of the Paprika app can import it directly.

Steve R. and NapaValleyWino : Paprika usually goes on sale for 50% off during black friday/cyber monday weekend.

Good opportunity to pick up the paid version for PC/MAC/add't Mobile device -- some people find having the desktop app helps for larger editing projects vs doing everything on the apps.

As your Paprika acct will sync across devices, any edits you make in one place will be reflected elsewhere.

We typically do not buy any mobile phone apps, ever. We made an exception for Paprika - it's worth the $$ investment.

I have too many Apps on both my phone and my iPad. The only one Iโ€™ve paid for is Paprika.

I have it on my desktop as well as my phone. It's a wonderful app and worth the paltry sum for buying it.

I loaded all my barbecue recipes and notes into Paprika. I really like it because we travel a lot and itโ€™s always with me.

Another Paprika fan here, have been for years. Nearly 3600 recipes on it so far. It's my daily addiction, either loading recipes onto it or searching it for meal ideas for the week.

I've got both the desktop and the mobile versions. Couldn't live without either of them, I'm so spoiled by their convenience.

Love it. Yeah very well thought out app. Conversions work great too. I only have it on the phone but like that the app overrides the screen shutting down and stays on until you turn it off.

I am slacking - I only have 726 recipes in Paprika. I think I have the paid version but I have had it for a few years and I don't remember

Over the holidays a few years ago, it was on sale. Best 2-fiddy I ever spent! I love that you can edit with your own notes and riffs, etc. I love that it scales (but only the numbers in bold!). Recipe websites are worse now than crappy code when the internet was born. I donโ€™t even read a recipe unless I pop it into Paprika ๐Ÿคฃ. I love that you can add your own pictures. Did I mention I love it?

Woah, thereโ€™s a menu option in Paprika? I just barely started using it, but this sounds amazing

              #12
              Yep, yes I do.
I also use it to document cooks, as in a cooking log. "Plan your cook and cook your plan"

Use A Cooking Log Or Diary (amazingribs.com)โ€‹
"Take notes! Whenever you cook, keep a log, at least until your methods are instinctive. There are so many variables to master. You should be making notes on the meat, its grade, its weight, where you bought it, how you prepared it, what rubs and sauce you used, the cooker temperature, ambient air temp, the wood you used, when you added wood and how much, etc. When you are done, note what it tasted like and what needs improvement. Study the info. Put your cooking logs in a notebook. You learn a lot about the performance of your cooker and the cook when you keep a log of them."

This is a pretty good video on how to use Paprika's features, especially great for newbies. I speed up the playback to 1.75, FWIW.

ecowper ,the Menus tab is really invaluable for putting together the main, sides, and dessert used for a particularly successful dinner. I have one tab in menus labeled Company-Worthy. I think you'll like using that feature.

                Never heard of it.

I put all my recipes in Excel spreadsheets.
Makes it extremely easy to adjust amount.
Just fill in cell for "amount to make" and it adjust all the ingredients accordingly.
I prefer a large computer screen to a tiny cell phone screen. Eyes aren't what they used to be. Haha

FWIW, you can easily scale each Paprika recipe. Just click Scale, click in what you want, and all ingredient amounts change. But it sounds like you've got a setup that works well already.
