My brother from another mother..... That is exactly how we plan our meals. Put down ideas we want for the next coming week on the side of the grocery store list. Then discuss those options on Friday night, change, add, etc. Shop the next day and then cook them during the week. And just like you, we sometimes change around the days, but rarely add or delete meals.

We always print out the weekly dinner menu and put it on the refrigerator.

This week was "Chefs Choice". I got to pick what meal on what night

I usually try to plan the night before, although many times it’s a couple of hours before and a trip to the grocery store for them occasions.

Generally we decide in the morning what’s for dinner. Anything requiring more than an hour or two to thaw is planned a few days ahead. We invite friends over for a meal at least once a week so that gets planned 3-7 days in advance. Often fish is not planned until I catch it, then I call home and announce the catch for dinner 😁. If wife volunteers at Ronald McDonald or I volunteer to do yardwork, we either go out or order out.

70% of the time dinner is planned that day. I shop the weekly flyers and deals and stock up when there is a good sale. My freezer has a good selection of protein, cooked and uncooked. I was getting good at planning 5 to seven days out. However, every time I open SUWYC, inspiration changes my plans.

As I am still working (from home) and my wife is retired we try to cook a a little extra on the weekend to take care of few days during the week. We started this many years ago when she was working too and it has carried over to today.

Most of my work days I will work until 4:30-5:00 and and she likes to eat around 6ish and me around 7ish so leftovers make it easy for both of us.

We also try to talk on Wednesday or Thursday what we might cook on the weekend so we know what needs to be pulled out of the freezer.

Saturday is shopping day so my sister and I try to plan out the week. For the Sunday dinner I try to put something on the grills or smoker. That depends on the weather.

this week we have a plan, not sure yet what I am doing for Sunday yet
