It almost feel like cheating, buying this stuff, and posting about it on a site where we have learned to make our own pastrami. But it’s just too damn good. When you make pastrami, this is what you want it to taste like. Mrs Mosca wanted Reuben sandwiches, and Mosca didn’t have any pastrami made. I was at the deli, they had it, I tasted it and my eyes bugged out.
Make your own. But if you see this while you’re buying chipped ham, get it.
Scotch: Current favorite- The Arran (anything by them), Glenmorangie 12yr Lasanta, sherry cask finished. The Balvenie Double Wood, also like Oban 18yr, and The Glenlivet Nadurra (Oloroso sherry cask finished) among others. Neat please.

Dang for that price it's not hard to make your own instead, but it's good to know you approve in case I see it. I don't even mind that common deli turkey pastrami. I think all that stuff is good.
Without question, homemade is cheaper. And usually better. If it helps, I got half a pound and that made two big (wide, not tall) sandwiches. So it's more than making your own, but a lot less than buying a Reuben sandwich at a good deli!
When I made the sandwiches, I steamed it for just a couple minutes, long enough to soften and warm it. I had some Jarlsberg cheese, some absolutely amazing homemade sauerkraut (not made by me), and thousand island, with bakery rye bread.
