Not a failure never to do again

Not a failure never to do it again.
Being the wimp that I am, I rather not BBQ in the rain. BBQ in the cold is okay, but not in the wet.
It started to rain yesterday when it was not. Oh my, what to do? I dried and covered my Traeger.
The wife and I came up with a plan to cook steaks and asparagus in the instant pot.
    1. sear the steaks
    2. add asparagus and steaks on top
    3. pressure cook for four minutes, fast release
    4. Enjoy?
It was edible, all were overcooked,
Did it work? Sort of yes.
Does the technique need to be perfected? Yes, but not by me.
It was not a failure; it was a learning experience. I learned never to try this again!

Maybe the lesson here is to keep the steaks in the fridge for another day and order pizza. šŸ¤£šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«

It seems to me to be a justification to build an outdoor kitchen so you can cook in all weather conditions. Nothing 20-40k wont solve.

Had this issue come up at Thanksgiving. We moved the grill to the garage as close to the opening as we could get it without getting wet with a fan behind to encourage the smoke to go outside. It worked.

Cold is OK. Wet (rain) is OK. I draw the line at cold and wet.

I’ve done the exact same thing many times when I’ve got caught in sudden rain. I never BBQ when I know it’s gonna rain.

That is most of my winter in Alabama. Wet, and cold, but not cold enough for snow - just cold rain. Thankfully I try to keep at least one cooker under a pavilion out back, out of the rain.

Measure once, cut twice, give the tape measure a bad performance review.

Build a BBQ hut or covering. The rain makes little difference.

My life both in the kitchen and otherwise is filled with ā€œI wonder what that would be likeā€ moments followed by ā€œI’ll never do that againā€ moments.

I mean... we all have indoor kitchens, right? With a stove? and an oven?

We’ve come a long way from Chuckie, and his Chuckwagon weather tarps…
plus sleeping with the sourdough starter in his bedroll, to keep it active…

Steak in a pressure cooker - bold move. Thanks for trying it so I don't have to.
Sous vide, not instant pot would have been your friend in this instance.

Liquid dinner, I should have thought of that.
