I was asked to grill some chicken thighs for a small local Christmas party. They’re going to make fajitas out of them. That won’t be hard at all. Today I get a call telling me one of the guests has a severe peanut allergy, to just season everything with salt, pepper, and garlic. The last thing I cooked on my smoker was pastrami, straight up Meatheads recipe. I’m a bit nervous on this one. Anything I should do or know?

I'm not a doc or anything but this feels like they don't want you to use a commercial rub where there could be a tiny bit of nut contamination vs wanting simple flavors.
Obviously you could clean the smoker well etc. I'd also consider simply doing them in the oven. Not everything needs to be smoked.
You could also do them on a pan if you're concerned about the grate
