Has anyone tried the Steelmade griddles for ranges?
Hey, I bought a Steelmade baking steel since it was reasonably priced and US made. But they have griddles that sit on a range and basically turn the burners on the range into a flat top griddle. For some things, this would be really useful, especially in the winter here where it's often rainy and dark after 430pm.
Yeah, ventilation could be an issue. I'm not necessarily thinking of doing a lot food at once, though, but of times when I want to do, say, some bacon, hashbrowns, eggs. Yeah, i can do it in multiple pans, but the large flat area would be nice.

I have the Steelmade griddle for my Summit 6 burner gas grill. I absolutely love it. It satisfies my flattop needs without having to add a freestanding flattop and it works very well. I really like the way that, with the high back and sides of the gasser, the popping grease stays pretty much contained--much more so than flattops that don't have grease shields. Plus it cooks evenly. It's a sweet piece of equipment.

I was about to post this last night - and then thought….no it wasn’t Kathryn….and. What do you know
Someone on here has one from this company, or very similar. For some reason, I’m thinking fzxdoc Kathryn has posted about this in the past?? Maybe…
who knows. I could be way off, but someone on here posted about these and they really caught my eye.
Yeah fzxdoc posted on that griddle awhile ago and it's why I got the baking steel from them. The only downside I can see is the ventilation one, but otherwise this seems to scratch the itch I get when I watch cooks on TV using a nice big griddle.
I have one for my stove. I got the regular one, not the heavier pro version, and I'm glad I did. The regular one is heavy enough as it is, and I don't think in a home application the pro model is necessary. Unfortunately, my kitchen is still in the "some assembly required" phase, so I haven't done much more with it than season it and a couple of quick cooks. Best I can tell you right now is that the thing is heavy duty, and if you plan too take it on and off the stove, make sure you have a place to store it.
Once I have a kitchen with actual ventilation again, I'll give it a good workout, and a review. If that day ever actually comes.
