So, in the future we will be shopping for meat at either Staples or Office Depot? “Honey, don’t forget to pick up some HP Ribeye cartridges for dinner tonight.”

There are some processes being worked on that will unfortunately be the future in some fashion. I'm not opposed to a printed protein as long as it's "real meat". There's a few companies growing beef and fish "meat" in labs, these discoveries are what will enable our expansion across the stars as a species.

Some of the final finished products - some of which were cooked on a BGE Small - looked tasty. I'm sure as this technology improves most people won't be able to tell the finished product from a "real" meat patty.
Keep in mind food is just chemistry. Once you get the chemistry worked out the rest is just marketing and aesthetics. I look forward to continued progress in animal-less meat products.

“Food is just Chemistry” - Whaaaat? I find it hard to believe that anyone on this site would really believe that. After all, we are a group of people who spend days prepping our meats, are willing to cook all night long in search of the elusive bbq nirvana, all for no money, just bc we are passionate and want to share what we made w our loved ones. Aren’t we the antithesis of the food is just Chemistry crowd?

DaVinci's famous painting "The Mona Lisa" started as a blank canvas. It took dozens of differently colored paints (foods) on his palette and hours of skill/vision (cooking) to create the finished portrait (meal). The paints (foods) Leonardo started with tho are literally just chemistry.

Well, sure, if you want to be reductive, EVERYTHING can be reduced to “just chemistry” but that’s not really instructive. Even your analogy indicates that Da Vinci’s paints/food becomes way more than just Chemistry bc they become a masterpiece. I would add that his greatest works were all oil paintings not chalk work, thus some foods/just chemistry are superior to other foods/just chemistry.

So then what will happen to the cow, will it go extinct? What is the carbon footprint of this? Cost? I think we are a long way away....
