I know this isn’t my parents, but when I was in the Cub Scouts someone once said Elmer’s glue was edible. Sooooooo, I took some straight pretzels & glued em together & made a raft. Then a couple of us ate the raft.

Mom would make a rice casserole thing that basically she dumped stuff in layers and cooked it. Uncooked rice, undrained can of tomatoes, undrained can of corn (I think), crumbled raw burger. Not sure what else now. But she’d throw it in the oven and cook it until rice was done and burger was done then melt cheese on top. We liked it as kids, haven’t had it in years now.
Mom cooked all the time and had to stretch food for 5 all the time so we had some weird made up stuff all the time. Dad never cooked, but him and I always joked that mom was using us a Guinea pigs for dinner when it was something she ‘threw together’.

Oh did I mention Alfredo De La SPAM? My Dad's o so famous dish of us boys when we were kids?
My Dad used to take cheap pasta, jarred Alfredo and make that. Then slice up some SPAM and add some Parm to the top. I LOVED this dish when I was a kid. And to make it sounds fancy he called it, "Alfredo De La SPAM" LOL.
Great memories.
