rickgregory Indoor hydroponic tomatoes are doable but there are several things to remember:
1. You are the pollinator. To produce fruit you will need to hand pollenate each blossom.
2. The pH of the nutrients solution has to be monitored carefully as there is no soil to act as a buffering system.
3. To produce healthy plants the room you are growing in should be able to change from higher temperatures during the day to cooler ones at night.
4. The containers for tomatoes need to be of a size that will give plenty of room for their roots. Imagine at least a 3 gallon size container but a 5 gallon would be even better.
5. You can construct an ebb and flow system that works well using 5 gallon buckets, one bucket for each plant. I believe there are instructions on the web for building some at home.
Just my 2¢, but I’m guessing I’m the only member who has been raided by the DEA for my hydroponic systems.🙂
And yes, all they found was my vegetable plants and "Non medicinal" herbs.
