Well, I have been hearing about this program called Paprika from a bunch of you guys. I am excited to say that I pulle the trigger and got the full version. I have it loaded on both my laptop and on my phone. I have added a couple of recipes already and even did my grocery shopping today using it. Holy Cow! This is going to be really nice and as an addition, when I am traveling to visit family and friends I can have all my recipes with me. Thank God I have a new recipe system which will be better than many of my hand written notebooks with tons of recipes and little to no organization.
I even added a family favorite, Grandma's Bean Dip!

It is a marvel. I use to type all my recipes up and save to a pdf and then save online. In addition I would print out a copy of my favorites and put them in a binder to cook by. Most of that has gone by the wayside when it is usually so easy just to visit a site and then upload all the ingredients and steps with just a click of a button.
A tip... you can export the recipe into a .paprikarecipe file and someone with the app can just double click and add it (so you can email it to them, etc.)
BUT..... Ray did a cool thing for us. Got a recipe you want to share with the Pit? Attach it to a post! How? Click the Upload Pix button and instead of selecting an image, select the .paprikarecipe file
For example, here's Troutman's Chicken Tinga Tacos recipe...
If you've categorized it and the person opening the file doesn't have a matching category it will create your category for them. If they have a matching category, it will add the recipe to theirs.
On the Mac, select a recipe, then click the 3 dots in the top bar and choose Export. Make sure you choose Paprika File. It should be similar on Windows but I don't have a Windows machine.
Ronaldf123 just search for amazingribs.com. In the browser. Once the website is open search for recipes. When you open the recipe download it and save it.
Alternatively if you are trying to capture a recipe behind the pay wall/login, I sign in as usual then grab the URL of the post and paste it into the Paprika browser and 9 times out of 10 it downloads the recipe just fine.

Was a game changer for me. Today, I was doing 2 recipes. I had my phone and Chrome Book on the counter with the recipes up. Easy importing and sharing. And when I got the full version for Android, it was on sale. At that time $5 and I paid $2. I would have paid $5, but I'm not ashamed to say and I have, I'm cheap.
I believe you have to do it from the desktop app. But there is an export feature. When I'm on my PC again I'll export some and post them to this thread. But now it's time for me to make some pizza ðŸ•
If this year is like previous years, they do a 50% off sale on Black Friday. It’s well worth the cost at full value…. But at a discount, it’s a no brainer
That’s when I signed up…. Best money I ever spent! I think it was two years ago? I have actually been putting in handwritten recipes. I love this app. This and Our Groceries have been the only ones I ever paid for,
The file created when you export recipes in the Paprika file format can only be read by Paprika -- you can't open them with any other app.
From time to time, I export my Paprika database of recipes using HTML format. That way if the Paprika app doesn't work for some reason or if the developer goes under, I still have access to my recipes.
This paprika thing is interesting. There are times I am a little archaic (old dude to those in Oconomowoc). Since I cook all of the time for the last two years, I try, yes try as in attempt, to apply principles in cooking. So, I look at what I have, usually venison, pork or chicken & try to approach the cook not neccerily from memory but what should I do with what I have. I sorta channel Pepin, Meathead, Grace Young, Martin Yan, Rick Bayless, ya get the picture. I try not to rely on recipes in forcing me to be the cook that I imagine I might be, if that makes any sense. And, I am certainly not being critical of anybody’s acumen here, cuz I am dwarfed by ya’ll in what you do. Just a rambling thought. Back to the paprika thing, I just might give it a look over. ✌ï¸ðŸ•¶

Paprika is a great way to put your Game Plans for smoking different types of food. Ditto for Sous Vide. When a cook works for me better than any others, I load it into Paprika as a Game Plan. Those Game Plans help me to remember even the small details like how many chunks of wood I used.
BTW all of my smoker cooks are also saved on Fireboard's cloud, but who knows how long that will last, so I store them elsewhere too.
