Toss a couple of bricked in your pit towards the end of the cook. Put them in the cooler for about 10 mins before your que comes in. They will preheat it.
I've always used beach towels heated in the dryer then tossed in the cooler with the meat to help keep the temp hold. it helps take up extra space and definitely helps keep the temp in the cooler. I could have sworn I learned it here years ago from Meathead
Meathead I made made the mistake of grabbing some of the "good" towels...once. Now I make sure to use the "old" towels that are approved to be wrapped around greasy meat. 🤣
