    Bad Hat BBQ by Rocket Grillz

    The 1st Annual Bad Hat BBQ Auction dinner is tomorrow; 10 folks will come hungry and leave happy!

    The Pit has helped at every step, BBQ Limericks, finalizing menus, Holding techniques, etc.

    This should be the last big cook for my old Okie Joe as my Rocket Grillz Smoker is not yet ready (close...very close)
    (We decided a counter weight on the door was a good idea....delay is on me) (Bad Hat Logo will go on the fire box)

    Smoking Salmon and Pork Belly today
    Ribs , Chuck Roast and Sausage tomorrow
    Mac & Cheese needs to get made at some point and my wife will work on her corn & bean salad and some other sides

    Pics should be posted by Sunday.

        Yeah!! This will be fun to follow. Agreed, here in our neck of the woods it is a spectacularly beautiful day. Total perfection for your event! Hope you have a blast.

          Ribs are now at 145....I was running hot at the beginning; now trying to keep chamber temp around 250.

          We will also add BBQ Chicken Thighs (on the gasser)

          Okie Joe Longhorn can run 5 slabs....Just in case you wanted to know!

          Folks showed up around 3....
          Ribs and beef were the party favorites

          we had restaurant style take home boxes available and the ribs are gone!
          a cross between a song circle and Karaoke topped off the evening

          Really good time and we raised 2k for a socially engaged congregation

          This is the Final edition... My wife and I will head to Charlotte NC on Friday; check in to a nice hotel, find a restaurant that serves whiskey sours (and maybe BBQ). Get up Saturday, hitch a 1-way U Haul to the SUV and load this baby up in Monroe NC Saturday morning!! Home before sunset....

          Details to follow. Linseed oil finish on the Firebox, Flat Black 1400 degree paint on the chamber and frame.

          Of course we will see how this Rig cooks soon enough...I am stoked!

            @DaveD..Let me know if you are ever in the neighborhood (Farmer's Market in Old Town Manassas? ; Potomac Mill Mall?...less plausible). It could be fun..
