Kind of a story of a wife went shopping. An old friend had grilled with a Weber gasser for many years, and has a propane smoker he has only used every year or two. He was just never into bbq. About 4 months ago he asked me how I cooked pork shoulder, it had always taken him 16-18 hours, told him about hot and fast. He did that, and his wife liked it so much that she said he should smoke more often. He decided that if he was going to smoke more often he wanted to get a better smoker, and easy to use. I gave him suggestions, told him about different types, pros and cons, pointed him to reviews, told him to think about what he would use it for, etc. He kept coming back with more questions all that time, he likes to research before buying!. A couple weeks ago his wife was at Costco and they had a Traeger on sale, and she came home with it. He just said "Well, that settles that". I am sure he will be happy with it.

Nice!
My ex would have never done that. She might pick up ribs…baby back because that’s what she’s heard of. But that’s about it. Anything for grilling & smoking was up to me.
OTOH, my GF will pick up the occasional steak or salmon. But that’s where that ends. And ONLY if they’re on sale. Don’t get me wrong, sales are great…but I’m not letting the lack of one stop me from getting something. She pretty much goes into sticker shock if she’s with me when I purchase fish, especially for sushi/sashimi. LOL
