    Meat Prices Are Down…

… at least in Chicagoland. IIRC, prime packers have spent most of the last couple years around $5/lb, although they were briefly down at $4.19, and baby backs have been well over $5.50/lb. The ribs came home with me.

Our brisket at Walmart dropped $1 per pound in the last 2 weeks. I got one in the fridge right now to do a boat cook over the weekend.

Sounds like you would fit in, just need a beard like me. It helps cover up all my ugly.

If I had a boat, I'd take it on the ocean / And if I had a Bronco, I'd take in on my boat / And if I had a brisket, I'd put it on my Bronco / And smoke it in my Bronco, on the ocean, on my boat.

Poultry to include eggs is about to skyrocket, our local farms just purged a huge number of birds. I gotta snag some beef if it drops enough and load up the freezer I guess.

it's a huge bummer, for the farmers and the animals who will be completely wasted. Pretty sure the incinerate them so maybe some fertilizer dust at best? Not sure how that all works.

Yes I have noticed prices dropping a little bit of late. I got a nice pork butt yesterday for $1.49/lb. Wings last week for $2.39/lb on clearance. St. Louis spares were $3.49 about two weeks ago at Costco. Prime brisket there has been $3.99 for a while now. Good to see, buy, and EAT. 👍

Question somewhat related - In the last month my COSTCO’s beef and seafood selection/quantity have dwindled. Poultry is taking up twice the space. I haven’t really paid attention to prices of late. Have others noticed the same?

I've also noticed a decline in meat prices.

I noticed it too. That’s why I did my first brisket this weekend. I bought a bigger one at my Costco.

Haven`t noticed much, if any of a price drop around here, but when things do go on sale its usually a really good price so we stock up.

Someone please send the memo to Winn Dixie. I needed ribs for experimental cook yesterday and STL wibs were $6.99/lb 😳 Last time at Sams it was half that!

Everyone is going to synthetic meat as per Bill Gates suggestion... (thumbs the hammer back on his ruger shooting iron on his hip and backs out of the room slowly)

Excellent, that leaves more of the good stuff for all of us.

Interesting, I purchased a whole loin strip over the weekend and mentioned to the wife it looks like the price of beef is on a downward trend. Was R20.00/kg cheaper than 2 weeks ago. I checked out other cuts and the prices were down too.

We are seeing it online too. Porter Road is running 20% off lots of nice beef. I bought a brisket, skirt steak, and beef bratwurst.

enjoy 20% off your favorite pasture raised cuts!

At least brisket prices are up a percentage and not a multiple.

$3.59 for baby backs was $1.90 less than my Costco was 2-3 weeks ago.
