Name a dish/beverage combination that sounds like it would be horrible, but in reality is really good

Peanut Butter + Jelly? A winner!
Peanut butter + marshmallow? Another winner!
Peanut butter + honey? Sure, why not?

Peanut butter + spaghetti? Now just hold your horses here. On the surface, that might sound a little far-fetched, but peanut butter + some soy sauce + pasta noodles + some other stuff is the basis of some fantastic Asian dishes.

What are some combos that you've found where you'll read the recipe or someone would hand you a plate/glass of some seemingly dreadful combination that turned out to be pretty, pretty okay?

The traditional pot-luck dish of either meatballs or little smokies in a sauce of Heinz Chili Sauce and Grape Jelly.

    Sauerkraut Pizza.

My wife makes a dip of cream cheese, horseradish, and cranberry sauce. Also, store-bought pesto (Costco) with blue cheese mixed into it for a dip.

There are actually a hand full of places around Wisconsin and northern Illinois that will make a sauerkraut pizza--a few make a ruben pizza. When I was a kid, it was popular enough that one local frozen pizza manufacturer (Pizza Joe's) offered a frozen kraut pizza.

I’d give the kraut pizza a go. That could be really good done right.

Sausage and sauerkraut pizza from Red`s Savoy Inn, St Paul MN, was a family favorite for years in my house.

We used to have cream cheese and grape jelly on Wonder Bread. A culinary masterpiece!

Are the curds breaded or plain?

        They’re breaded and fried.

Not something I make, but french fries dipped in ice cream (Blizzards from DQ). Something about the hot/cold, salty/sweet all together is yummy!

I'm thinking on things I've put together that are good.

Now keep in mind the mixing occurs in the mouth, not the glass.

Sliced salami sandwich with a bit of grated dark chocolate (80%+) sprinkled on must have a decent layer of butter too.
          Apple quaters with cheese spread.
Crispy roll (Coney) plenty butter and crushed chips (Willard's cheese and onion works best for me).
One of my faves but not really strange is a sliced tomato and onion sandwich grilled over coals.
I experiment mixing up concoctions all the time. Mostly for the fun but hoping they might work. Very few have turned out ok, but if you ask the the wife, probably none did.

Apple pie with a slice of cheddar cheese on top is a thing here in Wisconsin, so the apples and cheese spread is not to far of a reach.

Beer in a bowl of Captain Crunch (vs milk). Not an everyday treat, but really hits the spot in specific situations.

Ok, something I have to try.

I knew a guy who dumped Southern Comfort on his Cheerios once, but that didn't work out so good for him.

I had a college roomie that was known to pour Budweiser on his cheerios after a long Friday night.
