Time, place, condition. The answer is dependent on those 3 things for me.
Best drink: a carton of REAL milk served on the plane flying us home from ‘Nam. No powdered shyte - real I tell ya!
Best meal with wife: Four Seasons hotel Wailea, Maui. My bride and I sat at the very end table facing the ocean, at sunset. Served poached fish (I think it was Opah) in banana leaf, fresh island veggies and a wondrous bottle of Chateau Montalena. But, really, any meal we had that trip was special. kaiseki (spelling?) Japanese meal in this basement place at the Grand Wailea hotel is up there at the top.
Best meal on a business trip: in Barcelona, at the top of some building, started at 11PM. I do not speak Spanish, was on my own, and all the people at the rooftop restaurant were locals, no English. It was just plain great - took hours, lots of drink, great meat dishes, dancing, wonderful people. Second best (very close): one of the best Peking Duck restaurants in Peking, hosted by our business partners that still makes my mouth salivate.
This could turn into a saga as I have to skip, Israel, Prague, New York City, Chicago, Kansas City, London, and on. Oh well, bon appetite !
