Well, my local Publix did not have these in stock so I ordered some. They came in yesterday and will be on the grill today. Will report back. Thanks for the head's up. Love me a hot dog.

There was a brand up here in the GTA from an old deli named Shopsy's, his dogs were to die for as well as his smoked meats and such.
He passed away and his kids sold out to a conglomerate.
Now they taste like any old off the shelf mass produced dog.

Hmm. I may have to order some, or maybe worth a road trip (none within 30 miles of me.) Thumann's has been the only brand of hot dog that ever wowed me.

"Thumann's is more than just the best hot dog. Thumann's is more. Thumann's is more."

          Actually I don't really love Thumann's, but they're ok.

Well, my order came, but it was - well - not my order. I ordered the BBQ Box directly from Feltman's website. What I got was someone's Amazon order (yes, they are sold there for the same price as direct). Not a catastrophe - we'll have the dogs on Sunday after I source a good bun replacement for what would have come in the BBQ Box set.

Was planning to cook these on my new griddle, but Mother Nature isn’t cooperating. Went the old fashioned route, stove top in a cast iron skillet. Browned them up nicely, served on the buns that came in the bbq pack.

pictured on left: Steamed bun, hotdog, dill relish, Feltmans mustard and diced onion.

pictured on right: Steamed bun, hotdog, homemade chow-chow, mustard and onion.

They were tasty dogs, makes me wish I was sitting in Truist Park watching my Braves play, but alas I’ll settle for a cold one in front of the TV. Will try these again on my griddle or the PK. Thanks again for the tip.

Almost forgot, these were the skinless dogs.

Did you try one without buns and condiments? I think these dogs have a great flavor. The ones I got had sheep casings. I love the snap of a natural casing. Look at the ingredient list. Reads like something you would make at home.

I did, their mustard is pretty darn good. Will likely keep a bottle of it around. I’m looking forward to trying the others with casing.

          #21
These dogs are definitely a "keeper". The casing gives them a great bite. My wife is a Nathan's fan, but she loved these. Feltman's are a bit plumper than Nathan's, similar in length and IMHO more flavor. I did not have their mustard, but some leftover Katz's mustard and regular French's. The dogs went well with both.

ColonialDawg I received an email blast that they are now going to be carried at Publix. Unfortunately, not a west coast chain, but gives a lot more access to their products I'm sure.

I get these at my local Costco. Excellent. Any low priced too.

I dunno about hotdogs, but we get these Kiolbasa brand sausages that have a money back guarantee about being the best sausage ever, and the all beefs live up to that.

They sell those at my store. Made in Texas. They're very good. Their bacon is much better than the over the counter commercial brands.

I grew up with Hoffman hot dogs from Syracuse. Still the best for my money. Im 74 and still order for shipment to Seattle.

We make our own at my shop. So I am partial to that one. It’s is a beef-pork blend. As for store bought, Vienna is nostalgic for me (Portillo’s style, for those of you in greater Chicagoland and two locations here is SoCal, thank goodness!). My shop also carries Keller Crafted. It’s not bad, to me it’s a cross between a dodger dog and a Nathan’s famous. Oh yeah, poppyseed bun and plochmans mustard.

We've now had both the natural cased Feltman's and the caseless. The cased is really good, great flavor, plump, coney dog length and that snap you expect with a really good dog. The caseless - MEH. Much smaller, much more like Oscar Meyer ordinary dogs. The mustard they make is pretty good as well, but I tend to use regular French's.

I agree. The natural casing was better. I still liked both, but would reach for the natural casing hot dogs. I'm still loving that mustard though.

Saw this thread. Picked up some Feltman's natural casing. They only had one kind at the Publix I went to. Holy cow they are fantastic! Very flavorful. Thank you for the recommendation!
