    Reverse Sear Hot Dogs

    Who'd have thunk it?

    See method 2:

Grilled, pan-fried, boiled, microwaved, oven-roasted ... here's every which way you can prepare the perfect frank.

That will work. I like my grilled dogs with a little char, not the burned up Weiner.

I reverse sear them all the time, although I don't call it that. I put them on the indirect side until they're 150-160° or so the roll them quickly over the hot side to get more color. I don't mind them charred, but husband hates them that way, so, as with most things in our happy marriage, I aim for the middle.

Haha. It doesn't end does it! No bones, no char! 🤣

My wife loves charred dogs (hotdogs that is!), and complains that I can't get them as blackened as she wants on the Genesis. I guess for her I need to do Vortex dogs on the Performer or kamado...

I recently tried one of those Impossible or Beyond dogs on Memorial Day....They were so not good....I do not want the memory of those dogs I ate on Memorial Day.....Ha.....

All of those methods are legit IMO.... Grilled is best though.
And, I always cook them indirect before giving them a bit of char over the flame. Same with any type of sausage.
(realistically, just about anything I cook on the grill that takes more than a minute or two.)

Actually, I guess that's the premise behind boiling your brats in beer before putting them on the grill. And, to be clear, boiling your brats does not lead to a victory by the terrorists.

I love char on a hotdog. After an experiment I have mentioned here before where I put steak rub on a few hotdogs I don’t grill them without rub now. Use a rub like a steak rub that’s meant to char on them. It’s a huge change for the better. I use my old standard steak rub consisting of 2 parts granulated garlic, 2 parts lemon pepper, 2 parts Cavenders Greek seasoning, and 1 part Lawry’s seasoned salt. This stuff becomes incredible when it chars. It takes a charred hot dog to a new level.

Well, since you were game enough to buy some Crunchy Cheetos at my suggestion, I should give this a try.

Haven't seen Cavenders around, but then I've never looked. I've got some good salt-free lemon pepper seasoning along with the Lawry's and granulated garlic, so I just need to source the Cavenders. It's probably hiding in plain sight at our local grocery.

fzxdoc I look forward to your opinion. The peanut butter, banana, and Cheetos were good. I’m introducing two of the grand kids to them this weekend. They will love them.

fzxdoc They don’t have to be densely covered in rub just a light coat will do.
