    Andouille Sausage

I hope this is the right place for this. What is the best brand and best place online to get andouille sausage?

    THANK YOU in advance!

Hey Kim, without a doubt the best andouille I’ve had comes from The Best Stop in Scott, La., next to Lafayette. Their stuffed pork chops are really good as well. I’ve shopped there several times and can vouch for the quality…..

Acadiana’s best stop for boudin, cracklins, fried boudin balls and all things Cajun since 1986. Visit our Scott, LA supermarket, order Best Stop To-Geaux, or ship your favorite Cajun specialties nationwide.

That sausage is not messing around! Reasonably priced, too.

Thanks Panhead John and Michael_in_TX I'll order a couple packages from The Best Stop in Scott! I'm making some Gumbo for the first time and wanted some good sausage for it. THANK YOU!

Any time my friend, glad to help. Just a tip here since you’re making it with gumbo. The links are pretty big, almost the size of Summer Sausage links. I’d recommend slicing them in half length wise, then making your cuts afterwards. I’d also give the pieces a gentle fry first before adding it to the gumbo. There is also a casing that covers it, as is with most sausages. You may or may not want to remove the casing before cooking it. One more thing, like most people, I’ve always thought of using andouille only with red beans and rice or gumbo, jambalaya etc. This stuff is also excellent grilled by itself! I cooked some of this on my kettle before, off the heat side, and man, let me tell ya, that stuff was killer just by itself!

Panhead John I will, doing a trial run next weekend. The dinner I am making it for is special and is on November 30. I am hoping they enjoy it. We share a love of gumbo and do not get it very often.

Yeah, I saw that, and there is a minimum weight you have to purchase. If I want some heat in my sausage, I just sprinkle a bit of cayenne on top of the sausage disks before I brown them. Unconventional, but it works.

Yeah, I looked at some of the shipping, just to see/confirm. A turducken is $110, slowest ground shipping $57. Overnight/next day $388. I get fish from Alaska with markedly lower shipping for 2 day. Gulp.

Panhead John, I made a small batch of the gumbo last night. I have been anxious about my dinner party later this month and wanted to make sure it would turn out ok. Anyway, it turned out very well. I was really pleased with it. But, the STAR of the show was the sausage. You were absolutely right, this sausage is incredible! Thank you so much for the recommendation! I can't say enough about it. Ann loved it. We had a friend over (she doesn't mind me experimenting on her) and she loved it also.

        Thanks again!
        Kim

Troutman Michael_in_TX and all other Houston area members. If you’re interested, The Best Stop is opening a franchise location in Katy, Tx. at the end of this month. They’re going to carry everything they sell at their Lafayette store. I can’t wait myself!

I was all ready to order some myself until I saw the shipping numbers. Any other Cajun places with reasonable pricing and shipping worth considering?

Panhead John Well, I don’t see the seller carries the best stop brand but they do carry these:

Comeaux's Pork Sausage Stuffed Pork Chops https://a.co/d/4KJa1To

          Is this it?

No sir. Anything they sell will have their name, The Best Stop, on it. Most all of their products they make themselves. But….I didn’t spend a lot of time looking, but your link and a search I did myself, I couldn’t find anything but the andouille sausage being sold on Amazon. Your link only showed their andouille sausage from The Best Stop.

Panhead John the seller storefront has multiple best stop products but you need to scroll down to find them individually. The search won’t work. That is a bummer on the chops.

So, in theory I could order anything this seller carries for flat $20 shipping (maybe?).

For those that want to look at Amazon,
the same seller has multiple Best Stop products.

Served the gumbo at my dinner party for guests last night and it was a success! One guest said it was the best she had ever tasted! Yay! I am convinced it is at least in part due to the sausage (thanks Panhead John , I could not keep eating bites during the slicing and sauteing. yum. It doesn't get any better than that. The Prime Rib cooked was also very good and posted about in another post. Was very happy with the meal overall. You all (and my wife in no small part) helped a great deal. Thank you!
