    SPAM the meaning

SPAM is actually a portmanteau meaning “spiced ham.”

Do you marinate Spam in Sailor Jerry’s?
      How sweet sounding is that?

Spam is made in Austin, MN. I am not a big fan of it, but am not against it, and I live in MN. But, I was born in Iowa so I take comfort in that for this (not made there) and for many other things. I can say that I was told smoked Spam is really good, but I also did not appreciate that result in any way. I can imagine that there are some of you that would like that, but I don't care to dwell on such things.

I do appreciate it was a successful high calorie food for troops in WW2. Not sure what those troops thought of it at the time.

I don't know about the troops, but a long time ago I went on a ten day canoe trip through Minnesota. About six days in we opened up a gallon can of government issue and about six of us sat there with our spoons eating out of the can. Some of the best eating I ever enjoyed. Better than the wagyu I had tonight. It's possible I was a whole lot more hungry on that canoe trip.

I hope our tax dollars weren't used on this research. Otherwise, I am going to demand we spend a lot more tax dollars to investigate this discovery..

It is fun to cook maybe once or twice a year. Watch the salt, they're easy to over salt.

I always thought it was spiced pork and meat. No matter. I’ll take spam musubi, thank you very much. However, I was raised on eating pan fried spam and over easy eggs and white toast.

Pon Haus, Scrapple, Puddin', SPAM . . . . . all good uses of various pig parts. Given those choices I would put SPAM at the top of the list. Especially sliced and fried for breakfast. IMHO of course.

I love the stuff. In fact, it’s going to be hot here today and I was thinking about what to cook indoors for dinner tonight. It’s going to be Spam Fried Rice! I have all the ingredients in stock. Don’t knock it until you have tried it. Delish.
