Homemade pasta

So Amazon Prime Day I made a little purchase for myself, a pasta maker attachment for the kitchen aid. Nice design, tried it yesterday and came out great, the kids absolutely loved it. My grandmother used to make it all by hand with a hand cranked machine, but I opted for automation lol. Will do again it’s super easy and tastes great, Cooks in a minute and a half.

I also have a pasta attachment for the kitchen aid. Love it! If you like pasta, you owe it to yourself to try homemade at least once in your life. 😎

Nice fettuccine! I’ve got one of the old school hand crank pasta makers. May have to revisit the potential purchase of the KA attachment.

I ordered the brand Antree the reviews were good and keeps you from swapping out the 3 separate attachments kitchen aid sells

made spaghetti once with my daughter. Once was enough. Way too tedious for me...

Good to know. I keep going back and forth between a hand crank style and this one. If it’s a dust collector for you I might be interested in buying it from you.

I like my hand cranked pasta maker. Bought it second hand. As received, it didn't work quite right because the "comb" that pushes the noodles off the cutter was misaligned. I think the original owner didn't take the time to diagnose and fix the problem, but it wasn't too hard to set right.

It really doesn't take that long to make a batch of pasta for a meal, so the hand cranking aspect doesn't bother me. Now if I was making large batches often, I might feel differently.

Thanks. I’ve never used either style so I was wondering how difficult it really is to use the manual one by yourself. The videos on YouTube sure made it look easy, and I can see how being able to stop it instantly by simply not cranking could be useful

I think it's all what a person gets used to. I don't have the pasta attachment for my KitchenAid mixer, but I have other attachments. It's a drag to haul the heavy mixer out and install the attachment. On the other hand, the hand powered gadget needs to be fastened to a work surface to be stable, and that can be a hassle too.

Learned the hard way - never wash a pasta machine in water unless you can take it entirely apart. Use a dry brush to clean the crevices and a damp cloth on the outside.
