I've seen posts, typically in those bogus "facts you should know" sites that claim you should put an ice cube on top of your burger to prevent moisture loss.
Just wondering, any truth to this? Anybody try it?
Large Big Green Egg, Weber Performer Deluxe, Weber Smokey Joe Silver, Fireboard Drive, 3 DigiQs, lots of Thermapens, and too much other stuff to mention.
Just say no. Fire and ice together make water then steam. If you want a moist burger then buy hamburger with a higher fat content than you’re currently using. IMHO
There's an episode of George Motz's " Burger Land " where ice cubes were put on the flat top next to a bun, then covered to steam the bun. I just watched the entire series this past month, but can not recall the episode. Its on the free ad supported streaming service, Tubi .
I will keep looking if I have the time, but this is an NFL Sunday haha
Using Grok to search , it came up with this, where ice was used on the flat top to steam a burger
Burger Bliss episode of The Kitchen on Food Network (Season 14, Episode 2, aired July 15, 2017)
Scotch: Current favorite- The Arran (anything by them), Glenmorangie 12yr Lasanta, sherry cask finished. The Balvenie Double Wood, also like Oban 18yr, and The Glenlivet Nadurra (Oloroso sherry cask finished) among others. Neat please.

Meathead had some positive words about the process when he'd tried it, if memory serves. I just don't remember the extent of what he thought about it. Perhaps if he sees this he can say.
