Am I the only one who would be mixing the burgers back together with my seasoning and ingredients such as onion, garlic powder, salt, pepper, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce etc.
What is the advantage of buying and paying more for preformed pucks if you are mixing it to create new burgers? Or are you guys really just lightly seasoning your burgers with salt and pepper?
Scotch: Current favorite- The Arran (anything by them), Glenmorangie 12yr Lasanta, sherry cask finished. The Balvenie Double Wood, also like Oban 18yr, and The Glenlivet Nadurra (Oloroso sherry cask finished) among others. Neat please.

They're especially convenient for smash burgers, that's why I buy them. Open the pack and dump out 4 pucks in a span of 6 seconds, smash them in another 20. Then you have 4 burger patties cooked in about 3 or 4 minutes.
Meathead has an article with research from Dr Blonder about mixing salt into patties ahead of time, but I think what STEbbq means is mixing in seasonings, not necessarily salt.
I don't buy pucks I like loose ground meat if I'm not grinding my own (which I admit I don't usually do). But I never mix seasoning into the meat I season it on the grill. These days it's almost always a smash burger on the flattop.
pucks around here get external seasoning (usually SPOG or at least SPG) and some splashes of worstershire, anything more complex than that is hand formed.
That price on those is really good though, 6 (7ish when not on sale) bucks per lb vs 9 in our local store for gorund prime.

I recently got a package of the Creekstone pucks. They are not preformed patties but actually 4oz, what looks like they were pressed in a dixi cup shape. So if you want patties you have to shape them yourself. However they are perfect for making smash burgers. And they are seriously juicy.
Precisely my point above. Thanks for sharing this pic! Not everyone knows what the term "puck" refers to, puck implies hockey puck which might indicate a preformed patty, which they are not. They are meant for smash burgers!
