McDonald's may have pulled the plug on McPlant: analyst…

McDonald's Corp. appears to have discontinued its U.S. test of the McPlant burger made with Beyond Meat, according to a report from J.P. Morgan.
The investment bank said it spoke with McDonald's employees at 25 locations that carried the plant-based protein sandwich, and each said the item was no longer on the menu.
"Not surprisingly, the reason sometimes being cited is that the product did not sell well enough," J.P. Morgan analyst Ken Goldman wrote in the report to clients.
A McDonald's spokesperson did not respond to a request from Meatingplace for an update on the status of the McPlant by press time.
In January, McDonald's said it was expanding the McPlant test to 600 U.S. locations. The burger is made from ingredients including peas, rice and potatoes and served on a sesame seed bun with tomato, lettuce, pickles, onions, mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard and a slice of American cheese.
J.P. Morgan said it was not known whether the item is permanently discontinued from U.S. menus.
Beyond CEO Ethan Brown said last quarter that he was pleased with what he described as a strong performance in Europe for the company's collaboration with McDonald's, Goldman noted.
And it ain't lookin' all that good for the producer of that stuff either: https://www.drovers.com/opinion/spee...ly-alternative
