Just sitting here thinking about how I used to like my ice cream when I was a kid. The 105 degree heat will do that to ya here in Texas. My favorite thing used to be to get a bowl of vanilla ice cream and sprinkle Grape Nuts cereal on it and the drizzle with Hershey's syrup. Weird? You bet. Delicious? Absolutely. What about you guys?

My earliest memories of ice cream are from one uncle who made ice cream on his farm. It was always hot, but as a kid, I didn't care. There was no AC to cool off, so ice cream was a treat. That uncle only made vanilla. People would tease him - how about making strawberry, or peach ice cream - you name it. His answer was something like "you want strawberry ice cream? Then bring your own blanking strawberries.
Now-a-days, I will occasionally get a peanut butter fudge milk shake.

Cincinnati's black raspberry chip from Grater's ice cream. Needs no toppings. I live in NC, but fortunate my grocery store carries it. It's an insane treat.

Grape nuts on ice cream, why didn't I think of that? Sounds great.
My favorite is moose tracks or similar. I love chocolate fudge & peanut butter, it is my weakness.
My next fav is a really good mint chip. By "really good" I mean one where the chocolate pieces don't taste like plastic....which is most all of them. I've had a few that were excellent though, House of Flavors comes to mind, perhaps Hudsonville too, can't remember.
Not a fan of anything Bryer's though. Their flavors are all too sweet for me.

I can't seem to find a good mint chip. I like the kind that has the fine shavings. The ones that clump up and you get a big bite of them every few bites of the cream. Sadly, they all seem to be bigger square chunks now. Ever tried Adam's (same as the extract company)? They make a pecan pie ice cream that is absolutely sinful.
