S’mores ice cream pie + Cake is 👎🏻

My son likes ice cream waaaay more than cake, just like his dad 😜 For his birthday, he wanted a s’mores ice cream pie. Here’s what we created.

Graham cracker crust. Ben and Jerry’s “gimme s’more” ice cream. Chocolate fudge on top. But we took marshmallows and cut them in half. Then I took a torch and torched it to get it a toasted look on top. It was the bomb! Everyone LOVED it.

CAKE IS OVERRATED AND OVERUSED FOR BIRTHDAYS AND CELEBRATIONS. I’M WILLING TO FIGHT YOU ON THIS.

Get creative like ice cream sundaes, cheesecakes, or ice cream pies. Anything but another BORING sheet cake that says “Happy birthday [Name]”.

Our granddaughters feel the same way. Meh on the cake. But an ice cream cake heavy on the ice cream fits the bill.

Here's another option that I make quite often. The "cake" part is more brownie-like in texture, which is just right.

I don't do the step where I press the baked cake down into the pie pan and bake for 5 more minutes because the cake just naturally collapses as it cools, and when you press the ice cream into the cooled crust there's enough compression.

I like the idea of a richer brownie-like cake with ice cream. Light cakes are not at their best until they have been de-chilled and your riff addresses that important element. 🔥🔥🐿️

Everyone but me in the last year has had dirt and worms pie for their birthdays in our house. It is chocolate pie on an oreo crust with Oreos and gummy worms on top. Very yummy! I still look forward to my yearly carrot cake for my birthday.🎉 🎂🥳

My wife doesn’t care for cake that much either so we usually have pie for her birthday. I like a chocolate cake and have zero problem with pie (French silk)! The wife found a recipe for Boston Creme poke cake which is kind of cake but so good that she even likes it.

Not a fan of marshmallows but I do like ice cream cake. The kids have asked for him for a few birthdays now, mostly from Dairy Queen, and they have been very good. Myself, I do prefer a nice raspberry pie with a good thick crust for my birthday some years. Maybe this year I will request one.
