    ATK's Taste Test 9 Mayos

If you're interested and have 20 minutes a pretty complete tasting. 9 brands, 2 were cowinners. I don't think you'll be surprised.

It is chaptered so you only need about 15 seconds for results.

I either get Blue Plate or Hellman's. Tried Dukes, nothing special enough. Raised on Blue Plate.

Finally found Dukes while down in AZ. Really didn't do anything for me. Nothing wrong with it, just didn't move me especially after all the hype that I heard about it.

Was raised on Best Foods/Hellmans and have tried various other mayos along the way. None of those came close to Best Foods/Hellmans. Looking forward to trying Duke's some day but now knowing it tied for first place I imagine I'll probably like it too.

Tastes vary but I'm on the Duke's train now, just a touch "richer" to my taste buds.

I use Kewpie at times but it's different enough that it's like a separate condiment among many.

Grew up on Hellman's and at age 70, due topasmom influence, I have switched to Duke's.

My youngest son doesn't allow any mayo in his house, period.

My kids won't touch mayo either..

My wife has a soy sensitivity so Sir Kensington's is the only kind she can have.

Soybean oil is in freaking everything.

I was also raised on Best Foods/Hellman's and still love it. However, there was a post here some time ago that touted Dukes, and it is now stable in our house as well. Dressings, potato/egg/tuna/chicken salads and other mixed ideas goes to Best Foods. The little extra kick in Dukes goes on for sandwiches & burgers. Lastly, I use Kewpie's for Japanese potato salad.

Dukes because of the cider vinegar taste that comes through for me. Grew up with and still use Hellmans too.

Same here…. I have both Hellmans and Duke’s in the fridge. Just depends on my mood and what is in the sandwich.

My wife and I both grew up on Hellman's. We both converted to Duke's about 30 years ago. I bought a jar of Blue Plate a few years back and neither of us liked it. I'd go without mayo if I didn't have either Duke's or Hellman's.

However, Kewpie is by far the best for tuna salad and as a dip for vegetables.

Anyone remember the whole discussion of Duke’s mayonnaise in “Better Call Saul” between Jimmy and Kim? Duke’s won of course. 😋

I like Duke’s, Mrs likes Kraft. So I get two jars, and they last twice as long. I grew up with Hellman’s. Kraft is okay enough.

I don’t really care for either Kewpie, not the US version nor the Japanese. It “insists on itself too much”.

I still wish I could find European mayo in stores without paying $15 a container.

I grew up with Blue Plate or Hellmans. After learning about it here, I like Duke's better, and buy it now. It just has a wee bit more flavor going on, but not overpowering.

It's the cider vinegar. Show me another with that. Yea others use vinegar. Dukes uses both. It's the difference in my opinion.

I grew up with miracle whip (not mayo, I know, but as a child I didn’t know). Went to Violets house and had Hellmans. It was like butter to me!!!!

now I just make my own. We go through it fast enough that it doesn’t spoil. And I get to choose what I put in it.

and I riff this from yet another cookbook that I write in. It adds a dash of Tabasco……and some other stuff I can’t remember right now.

I too grew up thinking Miracle Whip was mayo, it was all my mom ever bought. I thought I hated mayo. One time in my early teens I was eating a McChicken and asked a friend what that "awesome white sauce" is on it, he looked at me like I had two heads. I had an epiphany.

We currently use Duke’s because it’s cheaper than Hellmans.
Before Duke’s was available in this area, we used Hellmans because it was cheaper than Kraft.
Its honestly not something I ever really put much thought into beyond price point 🤷🏻
