Our Mozambique exchange student begged us to buy this mayo because she can no longer stand the American mayo (Hellman’s or whatever Aldi has) we have in the fridge. I added some kewpie Mayo to the order too.
Scotch: Current favorite- The Arran (anything by them), Glenmorangie 12yr Lasanta, sherry cask finished. The Balvenie Double Wood, also like Oban 18yr, and The Glenlivet Nadurra (Oloroso sherry cask finished) among others. Neat please.

Never tried it. I did a side by side and I think Burman's from Aldi is a notch better than Duke's! Heresy I know. Unless my wife pulled a fast one on me, she gave me the blind test.
How is Kewpie's compared to the other favorites? I also look forward to the Crosse & Blackwell review.

$15? Dang….
kewpie is is super creamy, medium tang, super rich. Perfect for okanomiyaki (sp?), but not for a sandwich, imho.
Maybe I’m the wrong g person to be responding, I make my own most of the time. But, I like hellmans (best foods out in these parts), sir kensingtons ($$$) and Trader Joe’s organic.
i like dukes when I feel nostalgic for miracle whip-ish. Yeah…. Fight me 😜🤣😜🤣😜🤣
I’ve tried both the Japanese Kewpie and the American Kewpie, and neither is right for me. Each is just too rich for sandwiches, and too expensive to serve as a binder in summer salads, where it’s not supposed to be noticed.
Duke’s is good. SheilaAnn I’m not sure how you find it analogous to Miracle Whip, though; MW is cloyingly sweet.
Mrs likes Kraft, which I find acceptable.
I grew up on Hellman’s. It’s interesting that I don’t like it now, compared to either Duke’s or Kraft.
Oh wow….. this is almost as intense as beans in you know what….
Clarification: MW is what grew up on because it was what it was. I had no choice (except not eating ketchup). Know that I have not had MW in probably over 40 years… but it’s still a memory. Going the grandmas and aunties, they served hellmans and it was a treat! I tasted like butter to me.
Re: dukes. Mr. bones turned me in to it. I like it! But it’s not hellmans, er, best foods (this side of the Rockies).
All of this great discussion over hot dogs and mayo reminded me of my favorite mayo. In Amsterdam and all over the Netherlands, fritessaus is the preferred condiment on French fries. It is amazingly tasty, and markedly different than commercial U.S. mayo. I thought I'd look up what made it different. It looks like the
Some results. I had the Blackwell Mayo with fries last night. It is definitely tangier and more flavorful than any non-AMS mayo I have had previously. Very good and noticeably more flavorful than Duke’s. Worth $15 a jar? Absolutely not. Will we will be buying more while our student is here? Yup.
I sampled the kewpie too. It is quite different from any other mayo I have tried and it is more creamier and less tangy. I haven’t done an extensive sampling yet so we will see how it does on a sandwich. It doesn’t feel like a mayo for fries or dipping.
Thanks for the feedback. For me, though, kewpie only goes on katsu or onomiyaki. But that’s how I learned about kewpie, so it sticks that way in my little brain.
