    Texas Pete class action lawsuit

Did you know Texas Pete hot sauce is made in North Carolina?

Well, a Los Angeles man says he didn’t, and now he has filed a class action lawsuit against Winston-Salem-based T.W. Garner Food Co. for alleged false advertising.

To his shock, he later discovered that Texas Pete is not actually a product of Texas.

"There is surprisingly nothing Texas about them," the complaint said.

I never heard of it until I saw this headline the other day. I'll stick with my Tabasco.

Does it say where it's manufactured on the bottle? Is Pete from Texas? Do you guys think I should sue over the Texas toast in the freezer section?

Just another example of the worthlessness of our society. People can't name their product what they want.

Sadly, I really can't say what I truly feel. Not on this website, anyways.

I'm not sure I'm on board with calling our society "worthless" over a frivolous lawsuit 😄

Says where it's made right on it. Pete has nothing to worry about. (Actually wouldn't regardless, because I cant imagine what this guy's damages would be).

A CA man suing one of the oldest hot sauce brands, because TX doesn't have a sauce and because it's not made with TX ingredients... my favorite part is he says he would not have paid for it at the price it was... Texas Pete exists nationally because it's one of the cheapest sauces on the market. Dude wasn't gonna grab another name brand same size bottle of sauce for 2.5 bucks.

ItsAllGoneToTheDogs recipes aside, it's not a very "Instant" pot either.

For years Texas Pete (made in Winston-Salem) was the only hot sauce you could find in NC. That started changing in the 90s as salsa's and hot sauces became more mainstream. I still prefer Texas Pete for mixing into my cocktail sauce with my Calabash shrimp. Although I use Tabasco for most things.

I guess following the faulty logic a company product made in a particular state with that state’s name in the product moves its production to another state is liable for false advertising?

I’m pretty sure my favorite sauce is not made by Melinda.

I don't have anything to worry about. I make my own hot sauce.

I'm also sure Granny Smith pies are not made by a little old lady in her one oven kitchen. Do I have a case?

And this is not made from actual butts.

And be *very* careful about rubbing this on your own. Fool us once, shame on us

I have long pondered suing my grandmother for using the phony "Clean Plate Club" to get me to eat when I was a child. I imagined walking into a stadium filled with cheering admirers and being awarded a grand trophy. I thought it was just a matter of time before that came to fruition. It turned out that my grandmother was a damned liar. There is no Clean Plate Club.
