Slim's Chicken has pretty darn good sandwiches but their specialty is their fantastic chicken tenders. Not sure if this is a regional chain or national chain.

I know it’s not good for you and who knows what actual chicken is in it but I love the Burger King original chicken sandwich. It needs to be fresh out of the fryer though.

When I was a kid…….i could crush a few of these! Was my favorite sandwich! I’d ride my bike to BK for lunch then to baseball fields to play. Loved it! Back in the day when a meal was like $3-4!

Nostalgic to say the least. And right on, if it’s fresh. So tasty, but if it’s been sitting for a while it is terrible.

I used to love the chicken parmesan sandwiches from BK, but haven't seen them for a while.

As for recipes, I’ve made this a few times - although with gluten free flour - and it was really good. I can imagine AP flour is going to be great!

Probably not too picky about where they come from.

If you allowed us to consider the spicy chicken offers, my vote is still Chik-fil-a, but with 2 exclamation points!!

Last time I was there I had 1 spicy then 1 regular, and I loved it. The regular was the dessert after the spicy one!

That's my usual order, mostly when I'm driving somewhere. Easiest thing to eat while driving without making a huge mess. And tasty!

Huskee so you are skipping CFA fries or doing two sandwiches plus fries? Those CFA fries and sauce are darn good!

I recently traveled to eastern and southern Tennessee and during our travels we tried Zaxby's for the first time. We loved it!

Their classic chicken sandwich is very close to the classic Popeye's sandwich in my opinion, with (what I assume was) their classic "Zax sauce" coming standard, whereas Popeye's just comes with mayo, and Chick-fil-A comes with no sauce. The Zax sauce was reminiscent of a Buffalo-style sauce. Buns seem heavily buttered and are toasted. Loved it.

I know from a recent search here that fzxdoc had a bad experience and will never go back.Thankfully our experience was stellar. My family of 5 ordered 5 of their classic sandwiches from the Zaxby's next to Tennessee University (Cumberland Ave) and we were all delighted with the friendly fella on mic who patiently answered our questions (my wife ALWAYS has questions when we order food, sigh...), their service (we had to wait but we ordered a good bit of food so I expected this), and the food itself. It was fantastic. Their fries were the weak point if I had to pick one, they tasted like your average frozen supermarket fries that you bake yourself at home- decent but not especially crispy or wowing. Their fried cheddar bites were great. 1 son said it's his new favorite chicken sandwich. I thought that too for a sec but I lean back toward Popeye's currently.

        We would go back.

I think Zaxby's experience, as with any chain, will vary some by location. I've got a great one about a 1/2 mile from my house, and if we just can't cook for some reason, often find myself driving through there for a salad of a box of chicken tenders to share with SWMBO. Sadly, they got rid of my most ordered menu item, the buffalo blue "zalad".

I am too lazy to scroll back and see what I said originally, but I did just have the Burger King spicy chicken sandwich, and I really appreciated the actual spicy pepper sauce they douse the sandwich with as it adds a nice level of spice. The other spicy sandwiches rely on actual spices mixed into the fried batter, and they are always pretty much non-existent.

Huskee the last few I have eaten have not been so I don’t know. Maybe I had a bad streak. It is still my standard Chick-fil-a order so we will see in the future.

Not a huge fan of fast food chicken sandwiches, they are always soggy in my experience.

Flip The Bird is a small chain near me and everything is made fresh. Those I dig!

I've had a couple Popeye's that were sorta soggy, you could tell it was old. But if you score them fresh theme babies are crispy!

        #25
Fish City Grill here in Dallas used to serve a Nashville Hot Chicken, which while I haven’t tried all the choices first listed, was the best. I guess it was too hot for some, so they changed it to a battered fried chicken sandwich which I wouldn’t consider anything special. Prior to Popeye’s entering the field I would have given Wendy’s the nod.

If I could change my vote today, I would vote "Other" and write in Slim Chickens chicken club sandwich. That plus the fries puts all of those others to shame. I was happy to recently find out we are getting one locally, after we discovered that chain while driving through Arkansas and Texas this summer.

Zaxby's is on my list of places to never go again after I bit into a perfectly cooked medium rare Cajun Club chicken sandwich a couple of years ago.

Guess I missed this the first time around... I do really like Gods Chicken sammich, it's a dang good one. However, nostalgia says Wendys Spicy Chicken sammy is king for nationwide fast food.

Never had Zaxbys til I moved here and they're really good, but I can't vote for 'em because the idiots in my town are all trying to emulate Chik-Fil-A's drive through experience and well, it just doesn't work at this location. You drive in, have to drive completely around the building and 200' before you can see the menu there's 2 people with a walkie talkie... "What can I get you?"... um how about visible access to the menu so I can tell you! (The yellow circle is where they take your order, blue is where the actual menu is). I get they want more people to be able to queue, but IMO when the line is wrapped around the building I'm going somewhere else anyway...

Yeah CFA has that system down. I think it's great others are trying to emulate it, it is a n excellent system, BUT the menu has to be in front of the order spot! Lol! Sounds like they need someone to have a chat with their management team.

The OG Wendy’s spicy sandwich in the mid-90s when it was a limited-time only deal was excellent. Subsequent versions were a big step backwards.

Huskee our Taco Bell kinda does the same thing, but the employees are wearing a simplified combo menu at least, and you can park and actually get your car out of the spot after, not so much at this Zaxbys. The thing is, it works great for CFA because their menu is fairly simple with like 15-20 items. Zaxbys and Taco Bell have 60+ menu items

Still prefer Chick-fil-A. They are supposedly building one near our house and my family is very happy about that. My wife actually prefers McDonald’s chicken sandwiches the most. And she’s not an huge McDonald’s fan. And honestly, I actually think they have a very good spicy chicken sandwich and that would probably be my number two.

Interesting, McDonald's is the closest to Chick-fil-A that I'm aware of, I'll give her that. But I've probably had a dozen of mcdonald's (they're everywhere but the nearest CFA to me is 1.5hrs) and they're nowhere near as good, in my personal subjective experience that is. The chicken is usually tougher and dryer. Flavor-wise is pretty darn close though. McD's 7, CFA 10, in my opinion.

I go with local options every time just like I do with all food. I do however intend to try Popeye's at sometime out of curiosity.

Might I suggest that when you finally try popeyes, go there with a group, and order four or five sandwiches. Then they'll most likely be forced to cook all fresh ones. That's what you want, a fresh piping hot one. That crispy batter just melts in your mouth, it's hard to explain.
