I can vouch for folks not giving a s*** anymore. Not just 'young' people, either. I notice a lot of employees of all ages are really quite blasé and lackadaisical. "It's hard to find good help," is a lot more than just a saying. <sigh>

There are lots of reasons. Food safety regs were updated in 2019, but I cannot handle the gov-speak to get through it all. Basically, from what I've read, there are sev reasons for this: a) increasing consolidation of food production leaves holes in production, b) people changing diets by going "hatural" and "unprocessed" (ie. the raw dairy thing, which creeps me completely), c) people becoming more susceptible to food borne illness (like myself, now I'm on daily steroids for life, no more 1/

2/ sushi, but I sure would like some, and if I didn't know better, I might go for it, d) more sturdy, prolific and resistant food borne pathogens, and e) emerging/new ways of producing and preserving/transporting foods that have not yet caught up with the government regs. Add to that inattention and/or inadequate inspection and quality control, there you have it.

I have never purchased or eaten a frozen waffle or pancake in my life. I get too much happiness from something as simple as a pancake waffle that I can't justify buying frozen ones. When my dog Boudreaux was alive, he would come up to the edge of the kitchen and watch with anticipation as I mixed the batter and made pancakes. I always one smaller pancake at the beginning to make sure the griddle was right and he always got his "boo cake". That memory means as much to me now that he's gone as it was for him.
