    New beef source

I have been talking with my daughter about the search high quality, responsibly raised beef. She is a large animal-food animal veterinarian. She has several clients with small farms. They are starting to produce cattle for this market. Most of these are young couples who want to raise their children in a rural environment. There are also a few hobby farmers. Most of them will produce 5 to 8 animals per year. These are pasture raised, American wagyu, half black angus, half wagyu cattle. There have been no unnecessary antibiotics and all will be grain finished. There will be 3 steers ready in about 40 days. They are at about 750 lbs now and will be between 900 and 1000 lbs when finished. The cattle are near Waco, Texas. We aren't sure what options are workable. It can be anything from bring your trailer and pick one out to we'll have it processed, inspected, and frozen. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I was told it will be very reasonably priced. I'll update that in the next couple of days.

Sorry, no help here. But you must have one big freezer. Going to follow the story.

You must either need to feed a small army or a teenager.

I am sometimes terrible at getting my point across. This beef will be available to anyone that is interested. The young farmers will set their prices. This should be very good beef at a very reasonable price. They are exploring their options. I'm not in the beef business. One of them asked me to see if there was any interest here or any ideas.

I grew up on a beef farm. We had a large chest freezer and every 6 -8 months one of our cattle would get lead poisoning and end up in the freezer. A full sized steer will fit in a large cheast freezer if cut and packed properly.

Cudos to your daughter from a fellow veterinarian. In the near future 90% of veterinarians will be women.

We're proud of her. I was worried ar first that she would be working with large animals, but she is doing well.

Working with large animals is innate in some people, regardless of gender. I have a resident (female) that I would put up against any man. She is tough. I'm sure your daughter will do just fine and make you proud.
