Good job of hitting the rare side of medium rare! That's the sweet spot for tri-tip, IMO. My mouth is watering just looking at your picture.
As much as I like tri-tip served as steak, I absolutely love cold tri-tip in a sandwich, sliced thin on a soft, chewy bun with homemade mustard. I can't say I was much for roast beef sandwiches in the past -- give me a good ham sandwich any day! -- but all that changed when I cooked my first tri-tip and made a sandwich with the leftovers.
