When we were living in Montana, I did a couple cooks with an outside temp hovering around zero. I cooked our Rack of Lamb last night with temps in the teens. It was the wind that really sucked.

This is my record. Chuck roast cook on a cold Feb morning.

I took the kids to school that morning and my vehicle said -22. So when I tell the story of course I say it was -22. When I have to show the pic I say it warmed up 2 degrees.

I admire your fortitude but I have to ask why? I've been in temperatures like that many times and my only thought was getting inside as quickly as possible. There's simply no way that cooking a chuck roast in it would ever have entered my mind.

ribeyeguy I only have a few days/week that I can cook due to my work/sleep schedule. And when it's time to relieve the wife and smoke something when I'm home, I does it. Yeah it stings, but it's only a minute to light coals, dump them, add meat, etc.

-28 F circa 2014. I could have beat that at about 7 am this morning but I was in the cave and under two down comforters and didn't get up until 10:30 today!!

Woooo-weee that's cold. When your nostrils stick closed, your fingers want to stick to metal things and even the lighter takes a few clicks, you gottta wonder if the meal is worth it. Then you think "heck yes it is, BBQ is NOT just a summer food".
