I did a cursory search; Friboi is the largest beef producer in Brazil, and seems to be reasonably well respected. They tend to use Angus cattle. On the other hand, at that price, what is the quality? Select tenderloin is okay, it’s not going to be exceptionally marbled even at choice.

I might splurge on one of these. At the worst, it should make pretty good something.

Yeah, but you only die once too Jerod. By that line of thought, it is a coin toss.

Brazil produces some fine grass fed beef, and the brand probably wouldn’t be their largest producer if it wasn’t decent.

Nay. Brazilian beef is fine, but so is ours. Buy local.

Whole USDA Choice tenderloins are insane right now in our area, $32.99 per.

I buy Angus when I can get it. Angus, boneless, whole beef tenderloin in Spokane at our local Chef Store is on sale right now for $17.99 / pound, down from $20.89. The Brazilian posted above looks like a going sale price right now so... Go for it.

BTW, Wild Fork Foods is owned by JBS S.A. of Brazil, and they are the largest meat packer in the world.

We buy USDA Angus because we are Angus seed stock breeders. We buy American beef at the store because It comes on sale pretty often here at Fresh Market and at Sam's. Costco seems to not be as good tasting but may be the packages we tend to choose. I want to know the beef we buy are subject to the health standards in our country. So no foreign beef here nor any other meat. In the USA, a sick animal that has fever, is condemned by the stockyard .
Also screw worms have been eliminated in the US but are near the border.

I agree and try to Buy American. It's my understanding that according to new USDA rules, ''Product of USA" means born, raised, slaughtered and processed in the USA. Whereas "Processed/Packed in USA" means the beef could come from almost anywhere in the world. I do try to read labels and dates on everything.

I’m going to pass. It’s just the two of us, I’d be spending $70, and I’m asking questions about quality. If only one of those was positive, I’d do it, but all 3, naw.

FWIW there is a Brazilian butcher near me and the beef is very high quality and reasonably priced. It’s the only place around here I’d buy a picanha. Not only is the beef high quality but they also know how to butcher/trim it better than most places.

so I would not hesitate to buy Brazilian beef
