The graphs and data in the article are quite interesting. The ending of the article is a little depressing.....the owner of the County Line chain of BBQ places (popular in Texas) is having to consider simply not serving brisket until the price comes down. (And the remark about not caving into the trend of serving smaller portions was....well, ouch.)

Beef is now a treat in our house. It used to be that a cheap chuckie was a standard meal, but now there is no such thing as "cheap" beef. But I am learning a bunch of new ways to make chicken, so there's that.
I remember my Pop running Prime bone-in center cut chuck steaks for .99 cents a pound...Sure did spend alot of time on the band saw..Pretty sure those days are long gone..

I was on the farm awhile back. Guys were loading fats, going to market. One of the steers went nuts, started scrabbling around on the concrete, got his hoof caught between the concrete and lower pipe rail, broke his lower leg on the fence. Brother gave hired man the steer, which got shot and slaughtered later, using front end loader to hike him up for slaughtering. Costs continue, despite high prices.
