Lard as a binder

Just watched a video of a brisket cook where lard was used as a binder.
I found that interesting. May have to give it a try

Seems to me it has a better chance of melting off and taking rub with it, but alas I haven't tried it to confirm or deny.

I used it on pork ribs, brushed it with melted lard on cold ribs. It solidified on in a thin tacky layer and took the rub well. Didn't run off. I remembered why I didn't do it again, it was a PITA...but then again I bet I was neck and shoulders into a bottle of whisky.

I've never used a binder on anything, even hanging stuff in the PBCjr. ¯\_(ツ)_/

I've used PAM canola spray before, works fine.

I used wagu spray beef tallow on a past rack of ribs, thought it helped as I don't spritz. Definitely going to use it on my next brisket if I can remember.
